Padmini Rout is a chess player. She holds the titles of International Master (2015) and Woman Grandmaster (2010). She has won the National Women's Premier Championship five times, consecutively from 2014 to 2017 and again in 2023. Padmini was also Asian Women's Champion in 2018. Her peak rating as per Wikipedia is 2454 (March 2015).

Padmini started playing chess at the age of 9. She was introduced to the game by her father, Dr. Ashok Kumar Rout, who was a chess player by passion. Somewhere between learning the tricks of the game during the fun sessions with her father to getting a hang of chess, Padmini went on to pursue chess as a career and earn national and international titles. She has etched her name in the international record books and is counted among the best chess talents in the world.
